7:1

In this cocktail (derived from a sour), Germany meets Brazil. This was created after the 2014 FIFA world cup, where that encounter set several records in soccer history and inspired the name of the drink.  Brazilian soccer fans may want to rename it. The base is Cachaca (Leblon preferred), the float is Gluhwein, a spiced red wine that is fairly easy to get in winter time, and not that hard to make yourself, thanks to youtube and other sources. The fresh thyme twig turns out to be a very important addition, to the point that it may be worthwhile to produce some thyme infused cachaca to amplify that note. In my first version of this drink, I attempted to make gluhwein ice cubes, dark red. In principle, this should work, and guests love the dark red ice cubes. It didn’t work very well in my case, as I was too lazy to heat the gluhwein to get the alcohol out. The orange juice, a product of the experimentation phase, turns out to be of minor significance, you can replace it by increasing the amount of lemon juice a bit.

1 oz Cachaca (enhanced: thyme infused Cachaca)

1 oz St. Germain

1 oz Lemon Juice

¼ oz orange juice

Float about 1.5 oz of Gluhwein on top

Decorate with orange zest and fresh thyme twig.

½ lemon

½ oz simple or dem

Shake, serve in martini glass, float with 2 oz white wine, Prosecco or Champagne

3/4 oz Amaretto

½ oz Cognac

½ to 3/4 oz lemon juice (juice of ½ lemon)

shake, serve in martini glass, decorate with lemon twist.

1.5 oz Vanilla vodka

.5 oz key lime juice (since squeezing fresh key limes is a mess, consider store bought juice for this one…)

.5 oz simple syrup

.5 oz cointreau or triple sec

Muddle: a strawberry, about 5 leaves of mint, ½ cubed lime.

Shake 3 oz vodka, 1oz simple syrup or dem, ½ oz Chambord.

Add ice to muddled ingredients, pour mixture, stir carefully.

Top off with soda (optional)
